The 2nd Annual Marketing For The Culture Summit Curated by The African American Marketing Association Touches Down In Houston, TX

Houston, TX – After hosting the inaugural year in Atlanta, the Houston-based, nonprofit African-American Marketing Association (AAMA) brings its Marketing For The Culture (MFTC) Summit home for its second year. The MFTC Summit is an annual event that allows Black marketers to come together to learn the latest in the industry. This year’s theme is Knocking Doors Down, which speaks to overcoming barriers in business, collaborating, and growing your brand, while also paying homage to Houston’s own, Pimp C. Marketers from across the globe will head to Houston for the two-day summit on June 1-2, 2023.

According to AdAge, African-Americans make up 7.2% of the marketing industry workforce (up from 6.6% in 2021)—but below the 12.1% Black representation in the U.S. Additionally, Houston, the country's most diverse city and a rapidly growing innovation hub is rarely first on the list for marketing thought leadership. However, AAMA hopes to foster an environment in Houston that encourages more Black Marketers to join and remain in the industry nationally and beyond.

“In 2019, AAMA was launched in Houston and The Marketing For The Culture Summit belongs here,” shares Michelle Ngome, AAMA Founder and President. “We live, work, and play in one of the best cities for African American professionals and entrepreneurs. The MFTC Summit is able to bring Black marketers, creatives, and entrepreneurs together and equip them with the knowledge to grow their brands. Equally important, we are fortunate to have an innovative company like HP to come in and support our efforts.”

Thanks to sponsorship from HP, AT&T, and others, AAMA welcomes marketers, entrepreneurs, and companies to join the movement. Featuring an impactful lineup of speakers including Danielle Jones (Consumer Marketing, HP) and Joseph Williams (Director of PR,  Starz), as well as timely topics such as Using ChatGPT, Maximize Your Brand Visibility, Growth Marketing Strategies, and Time to Scale Up: Certifications & Supplier Diversity. Registration is required and tickets are currently on sale. The MFTC Summit takes place June 1, 2023, from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm at The United Way of Greater Houston. The MFTC Summit concludes on Friday, June 2, 2023, with the VIP Brunch from 10 am - 2 pm at Davis Street.
